Description

Anxiety affects up to 20% of older adults and is widely underrecognised in care home settings. This CPD-certified course from ecert Training equips all care home staff, regardless of role or experience, with practical, evidence-based knowledge to recognise anxiety in residents, understand its causes, and respond with confidence and compassion. Aligned with NICE guidelines (CG113, QS50, NG97), the Care Act 2014, and the Mental Capacity Act 2005, the course covers 10 comprehensive units, including types of anxiety disorders, non-pharmacological interventions, dementia and anxiety, legal responsibilities, care planning, and staff wellbeing.   • Apply person-centred communication and support strategies to residents experiencing anxiety
  • Use evidence-based non-pharmacological interventions including relaxation techniques, mindfulness, and meaningful activity
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the relationship between anxiety and conditions such as dementia, depression, and chronic physical illness
  • Apply relevant UK legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Equality Act 2010 to their care practice
  • Contribute to accurate care planning and know when and how to escalate concerns about a resident's anxiety
  • Recognise the emotional impact of this work and apply strategies to support their own wellbeing
