We’ve rebuilt the ecert Learning Management System (LMS) to make training simpler to manage and easier to evidence. The new platform focuses on speed, clarity, and control, so you can stay on top of compliance without spending your day chasing updates.
This post covers what’s changed, why it matters, and how to start using the new features straight away.
Why we rebuilt the ecert LMS
Care teams are busy. When the training platform adds friction, it usually shows up in the same places:
- Progress is hard to see at a glance
- Roles and permissions feel unclear
- Assessments get stuck without clear ownership
- Care Certificate tracking becomes a manual spreadsheet job
- Settings do not always match how your organisation runs compliance
This rebuild was designed to remove those pinch points and make the system feel straightforward for everyone using it.
What’s new in the upgraded platform
A cleaner platform that is easier to use
The first thing you’ll notice is the layout. It looks better, it’s easier to navigate, and key actions are quicker to reach. That includes finding learners, checking completion status, and pulling up certificates when you need them.
Faster, smoother course experience
We’ve improved performance across the platform so pages load quicker and learning feels smoother. Learners can move through training without the platform getting in the way, which helps keep completion moving.

More control over expiry rules and pass rates
Adjustable expiries
Training renewal cycles are not identical across every organisation. The new LMS lets you adjust expiry rules so they reflect your internal policy. That means you can align training settings with how you run compliance, rather than working around default expiry dates.
Examples of where this helps:
- Different roles require different renewal cycles
- You want certain topics refreshed more often
- You manage multiple services with different internal standards
Adjustable pass rates
You can also adjust pass rates so assessments match the standard you expect. This is useful if you have internal thresholds, or you want tighter consistency across teams and locations.
A practical tip: document your chosen expiry rules and pass rates in your internal policy. That way, your settings, your training plan, and your audit trail all match.
Clearer Roles and Permissions
The upgraded LMS now separates user roles more clearly, making it easier to control access and reduce the risk of accidental changes. Each user sees what’s relevant to them, without unnecessary access to sensitive areas.
The Two Core Roles
Managers
Managers have full administrative control. They can:
- Add and manage candidates
- Assign courses
- Track learner progress
- Access reports
- Manage training activity
- Handle billing
Coordinators
Coordinators can do everything a Manager can, except access billing. This means they can:
- Add and manage candidates
- Assign courses
- Monitor progress
- Run reports
But they do not have permission to view or manage billing information.
If someone needs broader access, roles can still be adjusted accordingly. The key difference now is that permissions are more clearly defined, keeping financial access restricted while allowing operational flexibility.
Care Certificate upgrades
Care Certificate Progress Matrix
Care Certificate tracking is one of the biggest improvements in this rebuild.
The Care Certificate Progress Matrix gives you an at-a-glance view of progress across the standards. Instead of jumping between screens, you can quickly see:
- What is complete
- What is in progress
- What still needs evidence or assessment
- Where progress is slowing down
Dedicated assessor system with tracking
Assessments are often where Care Certificate progress slows down, especially when there is no clear ownership. The new assessor system is built to make assessment workflows easier to run and easier to track.
You can:
- Assign assessors with clear responsibility
- See what is waiting for review
- Track what has been assessed and what still needs action
- Keep a clearer audit trail of sign-off activity
Care Certificate digital certificate
Once a learner completes the Care Certificate requirements, the platform supports issuing a Care Certificate digital certificate. That gives you consistent proof of completion and reduces manual admin.
What this means for compliance and oversight
When inspections come around, you need confidence that training is complete, up to date, and easy to evidence. A clearer platform, adjustable rules, and stronger tracking help you stay inspection-ready without last-minute chasing.
It also helps you run training more consistently across teams. The people delivering care get a simpler learning experience, and the people managing compliance get clearer reporting and fewer gaps to fill.

How to get started with the new platform
- Log in and take a quick tour
Start with your dashboard and learner list. Spend five minutes clicking through the main areas you use most.
- Review your settings
If you need custom rules, check expiry settings and pass rates early. Set them to match your internal policy.
- Confirm roles and assessors
Make sure the right people have the right roles. If you use assessors, confirm who is assigned and how work is distributed.
- Open the Care Certificate Progress Matrix
If you deliver the Care Certificate, use the Matrix as your main view for progress and next actions.
- Run a quick spot-check
Pick a small group of learners and follow their journey from enrolment to completion. This helps you confirm your setup and get comfortable with the workflow.
