• Understand the importance of first aid provision in the workplace - This section will emphasise the crucial role of first aid in providing immediate care to injured or sick employees, potentially saving lives. It will also cover the legal responsibilities that workplaces have to ensure first aid provision, including compliance with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 in the UK.

• Know when and how to call the emergency services - This part will teach learners about the situations that necessitate calling the emergency services (e.g., cardiac arrest, severe bleeding, choking). It will include the information needed when dialling 999 or 112 and how to communicate effectively with the dispatcher.

• Know the priorities of first aid - This segment will introduce learners to the primary aims of first aid, commonly remembered as the "Three Ps": Preserve life, Prevent further harm, and Promote recovery. It will discuss how to prioritise treatments in various emergency situations to achieve these goals.

• Know how to prevent infection when treating a casualty - This section will focus on the best practices for hygiene and infection control, such as the importance of wearing gloves, washing hands, and using sterile equipment when delivering first aid. It will also discuss safe disposal methods for biohazardous waste like blood-soaked bandages.

• Recognise the signs and symptoms of some common medical emergencies - This module will teach learners to identify common medical emergencies like cardiac arrest, stroke, anaphylaxis, and seizures. It will outline the symptoms, immediate actions to take, and when to seek professional medical help.

• Be aware of simple techniques that first aiders can use - The final section will introduce learners to fundamental first aid techniques such as CPR, the Heimlich manoeuvre for choking, wound dressing, and the recovery position. It will include demonstrations or simulations to ensure learners can effectively apply these techniques.
